Giles Login
This page is for Giles owners and builders who have accounts. If you own a Giles or a Giles kit, drop us a line. We'll add you as a site editor. You can post comments and post pages about your Giles.
You can type your content using the editor controls, much like using a word processing program.
To add an image, click the insert image icon:
The editor opens an Image Properties dialog asking for the image you want to use. Select, "Browse Server" to find the image in your uploads directory.
A dialog opens in a new window with a list of files you have already uploaded. You haven't uploaded the image you want yet, so click on the "Upload" button.
The "Upload" button adds a few fields to the top of the dialog. Click on "Browse..." to browse files on your local machine.
Browse your local file system to find the image you want to upload. The size of the image must not exceed 1MB. The upload will scale the image to maximum 1200 x 1200 pixel size. If your image is larger than 1MB, try scaling it first, before uploading, to maximum 1200 pixel width or height.
Click on "open" or the equivalent in your file dialog. The dialog closes and returns you to the dialog browsing files on the server.
The name of the image you selected for upload is in the upload area. First select the thumbnail images that you would like. Normally you will want a "Story" size image, 400 pixels, to include in your story. After selecting the thumbnail, click "upload" in the upload dialog.
The site uploads your file from your computer and creates any thumbnails you selected. If you uploaded a file called, G200LatView.jpg, the story thumbnail will have name, "story_G200LatView.jpg."
The file you just uploaded is selected. You will likely want to select the story version. Then click "Send to FCKEditor." Yes, it's the F*cking editor. Whew! You're almost done.
You're back to the Image Properties dialog again. It has the name of the file you uploaded. Now type the "Alternative Text." Think of this as a caption for the image. Someday it might show up that way.
After typing the alternate text, click OK and the image will appear in your editor.
None of the changes you make will appear until you save them! If you close the browser window or browse to another page before you save, you'll likely lose your edits.
Good! You did good!
Enjoy.
